What is Negative Space Design?
The first and well known design is called Negative space; and has been considered as the classic of all design’s concept with a high standard and complexity, yet the most powerful in convincing a client, because this kind of style shows uniqueness and competitiveness of all concepts.
Rules:
1. Negative space design is an image hidden in the logo or on the text/brand name. In logo making it is defined as "two image combined together to make one picture". This is another way of making an abstract art.
2. An Image integrated within text. Complexities may varies on this type of design. The concepts portrays must be clear yet not obvious. What it mean is that, the text should be very visible but the image you are trying to tie within is hidden.
3. Placing an Image/symbol into an Initial product should always be connected to the product, services and offers of the said Company. It is simply as showcasing an image to stand as a main symbol for a certain company.
There are Three Concepts of Negative Space Design these are Icon NS concept, Initial NS concept, and TextBase/Character NS concepts. And examples are illustrated Below.

ICON BASE NS CONCEPT
The first concept of negative space design is the Icon Base, a design wherein an image that is separated from its brand name. What does the text means, it should be the same with what may mean to the icon. Graphically, This is the concept that even if there is no stated brand text, still the reader/viewer may immediately get ones point. Nevertheless, This design is about adding and/or combining two image to make the negative space Icon visible.
Ex. Snooty peacock, Wine Searcher and Royal Cloth.
The second
concept of Negative Space is called Initial Concept. It is basically an
abbreviation of the text brand, either two words or one. In this concept, the
creativity of the designer can help the logo become "catchy" /
attractive yet professional looking. There are some initial concept that’s from
any other company which has only uses a plain text mark or a default font. In
this creativity the image will be placed or attached in the initial
Ex. Antarctica, Flight Finder and City Direct
The third
concept is the Text Base. This concept text/brand name negative space design,
has no icon or image separated from its brand name. It is a text alone that
stands as the company logo.
Well known
companies uses this kind of concept, like the Coca Cola Company. Look closely
to its text base design and will find out that there is a hidden image in the
text. There is an image of a bottle associated to the given text.
Ex. FedEx, Le tour de France and Black Cat.
The background of any company is all that means, when ones
uses this kind of concept. It is made-up of a logo separated from the text and
image. It also uses sub logos. Sometimes, the combination of icon and text seen
in the whole concept makes redundancy to anyone’s design.
"This Design has already been one of the most popular logo concepts around the world. Many Companies' uses this for it expresses much on companies image/name. It is also said that it is the best logo of all concept. Sometimes it looks like playful but recognizable. Then, it only depends on how ones put style and concept together in a negative design.
